I really want mibbit to have the prefect feature set, and I’d like to go a little further with this before I get the embedded version complete.
You may have noticed that mibbit has typing notify, so that you can see when someone is typing a reply, and you can perhaps hold off asking further questions etc until they’re done. Useful I think.
One small detail I changed today was the fact that you don’t really want typing notify when you are entering commands. So if you start typing a “/”, no typing notify will be sent. If however, you type “//” (Which gets interpreted later as a single /), typing notify does get sent.
This is handy for example if you want to do some commands, but don’t necessarily want people in the channel to know you’re there, or think you’re typing replies.
Course this means that a /me command does not result in a typing notify, but I think that’s ok. Emotes are usually quick.
I also got a stats system setup for the server now. It looks reasonably steady with about 20 clients connected to mibbit at the moment. http://static.mibbit.com/stats.html
The irc.mibbit.com server has also been updated, and now has NickServ, ChanServ etc running. You can also if so inclined, connect to irc.mibbit.com using another irc client.
Having irc.mibbit.com means there is an option for users/embedders to choose to have a channel on irc.mibbit.com which will ensure them complete uninhibited access from the client.
A couple of nice reviews of mibbit have appeared, and a couple of great examples of integration of the embedded version (Even though it is alpha).
Hopefuly the embedded version will be more available by next week.
